I Love to Loot Cargo Pods

(See title) I just thought it bore mentioning again.

Passing alongside an enemy (or maybe just wealthy) freighter, engines targetted, weapon power maxxed, a quick 4-shot burst, then engine power maxxed, evasive maneuver, then engage the escorts.

Cargo pods scatter in a tight pattern conforming the shape of the freighter they were on, like police chalk marking where a body used to be. This orderly forensic evidence is disturbed soon enough, though, as soon more ships crash through the L-point and into the piles of cargo pods like cue balls breaking a rack.

Poor Jafs.

Very poetic indeed! I love it. Not that anyone could possibly improve on that beautiful prose description of so much of the time spent playing Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos, I took the liberty of condensing it a little to form two haiku verses (I'm not good enough to fit it all into one). Here goes:
engines targeted
a burst of fire, then evade
tugs blossom in flame

cargo pods scatter
in a chalk outline of crime
Jafs weeps at their loss

Maybe we ought to start a new thread just for EoC poetry/haiku!

Megafrieghter, incoming jump
Just another Maas-ite chump,
Dirty work, this corper trade,
hope his life insurance's paid

Cause what this chumpy doesn't know,
he'll soon be wrapped in burning glow,
as his ship hull detonates,
one of my antimatter crates

Blinding flash, it hurts the eye,
and makes mr. Maas-ite's organs fry,
His escort too, all those fools,
reduced to their component molecules

Jafs is mad, I hear him say,
Cal we're pirates, what the hey!
Burning gas I cannot sell,
nor parts of ships you've blown to hell.

Jafs old boy, you should know,
before too long you'll get cargo,
But Caleb Maas must die it's true,
and all his employees too.

Frieghter, Frieghter, hauling stuff,
I hope you know that I play rough,
If I kill you, will you fly
to the cargo depot in the sky?

There once was a Hoffer's Gap lad
Who was wronged by a man who was bad
He spent years in the clink
(Quite enough time to think
Of the ways sweet revenge could be had)

Ode to the L-Point

That simulated sound it makes,
my fingers twitch and get the shakes,
freighters arrive with cargo intact,
freighters depart with their hulls scorched black.

From whence the Lagrange Point's benevolent hand?
Is it vigilance, physics, supply and demand?
More freighters arrive, Oh joy! Oh rapture!
The cargo pods cry out for capture! More capture!

The Horn of Plenty of ancient Myth,
booty from a Cosmic Rift,
A prayer to Lagrange, Jafs brings his pack-horse,
then up Jacob's Ladder ... the blue side, of course.
