Another model I'm working on

Gotcha! ;)

MP missions right off the top of my head:
  • A rebel mission flying escort for a Millennium Falcon type freighter convoy.
  • An Imperial mission attacking the above convoy.
  • Flying the freighter itself.
  • EoC pirates attacking the convoy.
Flying the Falcon solo (pun intended) probably isn't too much fun in MP outside of missions because it's guns are AI turrets. Nothing much to do except run away to avoid getting hit. I think it would be awsome in missions though.

btw - Tie Fighters don't have shields (so you won't need to add them), they're advantage lies in being very fast and very manueverable. One less thing to do.

Oh, and how about some new sound files for the new models.

The destroyers in the what_rocksv2 mod have AI turrets as well a selectable weapons. We could give the Falcon pilot a gun or two. If that's not canon: We could give him the ability to select the targets his turrets fire at?

The sfx sounds are linked to the ships setup.lws and can be modded with a simple text editor. We can also add new sounds not currently in the I-War2 game, provided:
a) the sound file has the same format as the files currently used by the game in (unzipped)resource/audio/sfx
b) the sound free to be used and isn't from a proprietary source

Example: If we mod the sound .ini to bend the pitch of the current fighter.wav sound, change its volume and it's SFX range we might be able to come up with a halfway decent TIE-Fighter sound. Else we use another sound.

Setting up sound INI files is easy enough, I meant we should get some actual Star Wars wav sound samples and create totally new sound effects for the ships and weapons. I'll add whatever appropriate sound nulls need to be added to the setups.

I was thinking of modeling the x-wing, y-wing and b-wing for the rebel side. And the Tie Fighter and Tie Interceptor for the Imperial side. Will those work for you?

I quickly worked this up during lunch.

And low back view

What do you think so far? Kinda looks like a car's rearend differential, doesn't it? I can use it as the hull for both Tie types.

Looks fine to me.

I'm a little worried about the textures part.

No volunteers yet?

Don't worry too much, it doesn't look to difficult. And I've just been talking to a guy who writes scripts and plugins for Lightwave and he said he'd let me try out a new beta script that automates surface and texture map creation. So if no one else wants to do it I can get it done. But I would prefer it if someone with really good texturing skills tried first. I can use Photoshop but I'm not really into making texture maps.

Here's an update on the Tie Interceptor

I thought maybe I would make the wings a little thinner. The whole thing is around 700 polys so far. Anybody have any opinions for improvements?
