Hmmm, I seem to remember reading about that. I'll have to go look for it. Thanks MajorTom.
Again, Shane pretty please; what did you name the glowing surface on your test ball? (The one that worked.) What did you set the luminosity to? Did you use a map at all? I can't seem to get even the standard glow channels to work for me. Help!

Check out the counter measures avatar. It is a glowing light. It reflects off nearby objects. Also the aliens are glowing balls of light. The venice freighter has a blue engine glow that will illuminate surfaces. The glow seems in front of the engine, and while tied to the thrusters, does not seem like reflection of the thrusters.

I figured out what I was doing wrong. How do these engines look?
Turns out that in order to get a scene light to cast light in the game, the light must be named <glow>. Pretty useful to know, huh?

Lol, normally I would say thats obvious,
but now, finally, I know why I have to edit the ones that are named glow when I want to change the intensity of weapons flare
Engines look cool [8D] [^] [8D]
Things are looking cool in general
On the modding/scripting side: [^] [^]
the new score screen is done
new backgrounds for the ingame MP GUI are done
new Movie for the main GUI done
heavily improved, simplified, failsafe install batch file done
text for the main GUI reworked
new music (sounds roughly like Starwars Theme) in the main GUI
The Botmatch and Trade games are running like a charm
the little bitty ships don't bounce around too much when they are hit
Disruptors are working for both bots and players
Bot and player disruptors can be individually turned off by the server admin
(if necessary to improve overall game preformance)
to do:
a slight change in the network GUI
change texts for the names of ships displayed
fully impliment the S-foils
re-code the bot support functions in the Assault game
Question:
Do we need a tractor beam???

Sorry, it seems I arrived a little late to help on this one. Had to work a double today/tonight to get a project done by deadline.
Glad you got it working (and just as well; I'd probably have to search for a day just to find my testball info buried somewhere in the catacombs of my hard drive).

Ack, no, Shane you misunderstand. Those engine lights are using your (brilliant) idea of a light in each thruster core. But I still need to know about the glow channels for other stuff. Any help you could give would be most appreciated.
