Wow, the new shape of the Machete is definitely an improvement, and the size looks reasonable.
Does anyone remember the Tir class freighter from I-War 1? The Tir was a longer version of the Oakland (about 1 km) with an almost identical structure, and she could carry 20 cargo pods. The Tir was a much more frequent sight, but why did the Oakland survive all those years, but the Tir didn't. Out of twp ships with identical thruster sizes, acceleration and crew counts, but with different cargo capacity, you would expect the huger one to be more efficient and be in service for a longer time, wouldn't you?
However, from her roughly similiar, but more efficient size and cargo capaciy, the Machete seems a good candidate for the ship that has kicked the Tir from the market.

Thanks Cormorant. One more round of merciless tweaking and I'll start texturing.
Sivadrake: The email is not working out so well. Everytime I send it I get a return message saying the mail could not be sent (though it does not say why). I'll give it a shot again this evening.

I like the Machete having coverage for the cargo pods. It would be a great ship for working in dusty systems like Bumpy's Star or Epitaph.

Hmmm. And it makes sense that there would be some way to move those mega pods around without the mega freighter. As expensive as those mega freighters would be, it would make sense to move the large pods to some central location. The mega freighter would only need to stop once in each system, dropping off mega pods, and picking up the new ones. A tug is too small (I tried it - not a budge). Perhaps a Jeep class with its nose mounted docking port...Originally posted by Shane
Here's the scale of the Machete.

I can build a craft which would haul a single megapod if you can use it in Epic.

Sounds like some junkers could use a ship like that...hauling bits of scrap in massive cargo pods that the Corperations throw away. Or the equivlent clans/races.
