heh, i have always wanted a proper turret on the orginal cutter.
Also, if you make the engines work 'properly' as in on the frog flitter, i would be a happy monkey. The current EoC cutter does not have the two engines as seperate , so they jitter and spasm when making manuvers. Its highly irrititating. The frog has them as seperate, and its beautiful.
Edit, i am just visulising your cutter with rotating engines, it would be beauitiful! Those engines look like they are designed to rotate too. Although i personally think the turret would look better as a more compact one, like those found on the Navy Heavy Destroyer.
Perhaps having some 'internal' missile tubes on the front of the hull would be nice as well.
Very impressive.

** Update **
Ok, i rounded up the nose, following your hints, and started working on it in LW.. and i found it really difficult at first [V]
here are two works in progress: the first shows approximately the appearance of the two versions of the cutter (marauder and corporate/independent)
this one shows what should be like the (almost) definitive texture of the front section of the independent version (yellow could not be the final colour..)
I found it's a very boring process to draw a texture similar, in details, to the original ones..[xx(]
those are LW renderings so i don't know if EoC will show them so good
actually i'm wondering if glow textures will works (from Player Ship Texture notes it seems so), they are crucial to the good loking of the models
I'm waiting for your hints/comments, especially on the textures

I...um...well....
They are ok, but they do not seem to fit the theam, hey also look a bit like 'textures on a 3d model' not '' the surface of a real ship'' which is a lovly charasticic of EoC.
If you send them over in a photoshop readable formate, and a 'wireframe' texture rendition (if possiable) i will gladly help you.
Also, i do not think changing Mass's Personal cutter would be good.
And the tip still looks too 'computer graphics' ey...a curved end, circular with no 'tip' would look better imo. It quite litterlly sticks out to much, like a big triangula nose on a beautiful woman.

Looking good. Keep working on the textures, they'll come around eventually. I really like the way the engines look like they're protected by armor plating, good idea. Now that I've seen a version without the turret, I think they both look great. I'd like to see the one without the turret as the regular cutter, and the one with the turret as something special. Like a Navy destroyer or cruiser escort equipped with a battleship gun in addition to their "normal" weapons. Escorts of this type could protect a larger ship from massed attacks by smaller craft (using their normal weapons), or themselves gang up on a much larger, slower ship. Making full use of their capital weapon.
I'm really liking both of these designs more and more. I'd like to use them in my personal mod if that's ok. When the untextured meshes are finished would you mind sending them to me? I'd like both the turreted and non-turreted versions.
Keep it up.

Ok, i will keep working on the textures.. i think the "texture on a mesh" effect can be avoided by adding some relief shadows on the texture map..i will see soon.
Second chance, i will happily give you the model(s) to be used in your mod [8D], as soon i will be satisfied with their geometry.
Honestly the version without turret was intended to have a standard EOC turret..that's why i removed it. But of course at this point one can create different versions of the cutter, as you said. The game itself should help you doing this, since it features three setups of different fire power/ performance for the gangster ship:D.

Thanks. I'm not really interested in the EoC cutter setup. I'll construct an entirely new ship around your mesh. My mod doesn't use any of the original setups. I've recycled some of the EoC ship models just because I don't have time to make every single new ship design, that's the reason why I'm always on the lookout for good looking new models to be incorporated into the mod.
